Why did you become a founding member?
Our mission at Good Buy Supply is to reduce waste locally in Philadelphia by providing a resource for sustainable living. Circular Philadelphia advocates what we do and also introduces us to developments set forth by other like-minded individuals & businesses.
What does a circular economy mean to your organization?
A circular economy is both businesses & consumers working together upon the ideal of not generating any unnecessary waste. A circular economy used to exist, and we hope to bring it back!
How is your organization practicing circularity?
Among many sustainable standards we set for our products, closed-loop sourcing is the foundation of Good Buy Supply. For our refillable products, we work tirelessly to order in containers that are returned to vendors to be continuously reused. In addition, we encourage customers to bring their own containers to refill in-store. The result being that no waste is generated from maker to consumer. We see disposal and recycling systems to be fatigued or ultimately inefficient, so we’re constantly employing ways to repurpose any other leftover materials.
How can others advance the circular economy?
Earth’s resources should be treated as precious as they are valuable. From production to consumption – factory to home – everybody needs to take more responsibility for their own actions. Many aspects of our economy were not initialized with environmental affect in mind, and so we are now in a process of reshaping how things must be done. Good Buy Supply offers solutions that make an immediate improvement on our lives & the environment – results we can see today. We know these changes can take a little more effort, but believe our shared planet is worth it.
