Jett Biggert
A Kensington local, artist and handyperson, Jett helps revitalize communities through their role at Rebuilding Together Philadelphia. By renovating their own home, they also gained hands-on building skills that set them on a path to advocate for increased sustainability in the building trades to promote deconstruction and recycling on the job site.
Why did you join Circular Philadelphia?
To support a push for better policies/programs in Philly.
What kind of work do you do and/or interests do you have?
I’m a newly minted Program Manger at Rebuilding Together Philadelphia. I love being able to use donated building materials and volunteer time to maximize our ability to transform vulnerable, owner occupied houses into safe, healthy, and energy efficient homes.
I’ve also been the bookkeeper at RAIR since 2018. It’s been cool crunching numbers surrounded by 450 tons of demolition waste materials and supporting the artist residency program that challenges the perception of waste culture.
What does a circular economy mean to you?
Better accessibility to and community around resources – in a sustainable way.
What advice would you give to someone to help move the circular economy forward?
Build community. We all have resources and/or knowledge to share – by maintaining & growing a healthy network we have more opportunities to keep our circular economy rolling.
