Why did you become a member?
Joining Circular Philadelphia was a no-brainer for us. It dovetails perfectly with Rutabaga Toy Library’s core mission. Our primary gig? Keeping toys out of landfills and challenging the production of disposable toys. Being part of Circular Philadelphia encourages us to actively contribute to a more sustainable and circular economy – it’s a win-win.
What does a circular economy mean to your organization?
At Rutabaga Toy Library, we consider the circular economy the beating heart of what we do. It’s all about reusability and sustainability on steroids. We put circularity into practice by running a toy lending library, offering reusable party supplies, and educating our community about the lifecycle of disposable items – especially in the world of parenting.
How is your organization practicing circularity?
Circular practices are deeply embedded in our organization’s DNA. Our mission is clear: divert items away from landfills. We welcome donated toys with open arms, meticulously restore them to their former glory, and extend their lifespans. Additionally, our toy lending library, reusable party supplies, and zero-waste party experiences are shining examples of how circularity can work seamlessly in practice.
How can others advance the circular economy?
First, hop on board with the whole sharing vibe. At Rutabaga Toy Library, we’re all about it, from toy lending libraries to reusable party supplies. Whether it’s our toy lending libraries or reusable party supplies, sharing isn’t just eco-friendly; it’s a fantastic way to bring people closer. Secondly, show your support for businesses that wholeheartedly embrace circular practices. By backing these sustainability champions, you’re not just reducing your environmental footprint; you’re shouting to the world that sustainability matters.
